We broke ground in May of 2011 to create a new edible perma-forest garden in Fairfield, Iowa. Over a dozen students, faculty, and friends from the Maharishi University of Management Department of Sustainable Agriculture  came out to help and say hello.   I am feeling infinitely blessed.

It has occurred to me that Krishna's Vrinadavan is a sustainable forest garden, replete with caves, waterfalls, the river Yamuna, hills, and mountains where cowherd men and women (gopas and gopis) produce fruit, grains, and flowers along with wonderful preparations made from milk (the people of India digest cows milk very nicely) with great happiness for the transcendental pleasure of Radha and Krishna.

We are a burgeoning group of Vaishnavas and Krishna bhaktas located in the heart of Fairfield, IA with a separate farm just five miles north of the Maharishi University of Management.  For more information please call Madhavadasa Das at

Our goal is to promote Krishna Consciojsness as well as love and appreciation between the two great traditions, one  represented by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (coming from Shripad Shankara Acharya) and the other by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (originating with Shri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu).

Shrila Prabhupada looked at me while giving one lecture in New York Iskcon in 1976 and said that in advancing the preaching of Vedic wisdom, there has, historically, often been conflict between these two approaches to Supreme Awareness; but at heart we  recognize that those who seek brahman realization are also the  most  exalted of spiritual transcendentalists. "There is no difference,"  he explained, "between your guru and my guru.  Just as God is One, so the Guru is also One, the representative of Nityananda, the original spiritual master, and Krishna."

I have practiced TM since 1993, and am greatly inspired by the work of this movement.  My current focus is to build a sustainable edible forest garden with a Hare Krishna MSV home and temple, and to encourage the fruition of protected herds of cows, calves, bulls, and working oxen to produce Ahimsa Milk for the Maharajas, Pandits, and all people, traditional oxen agriculture, ox powered electric, and lots of manure for fuel, fertilizer, and fun.

Please visit Protected Cow Dairies on Facebook and support Ahimsa Milk by clicking LIKE at the top of the page and leaving a supportive comment. See also Protected Cow Dairies at this website.

Thank you for your interest in this most important work.
